How do I cancel my membership?
How do I update my billing and shipping information for my membership?
Your billing and shipping information is stored in your account settings. Please note that the address stored in your account will become the default location to which your Update shipments are sent. You can update them at any time.
If you are travelling within the continental United States, Hawaii and Alaska, please be sure to update the address in your settings with the location of your destination. If you are traveling and unsure about delivery dates, please reach out to the Member Concierge.
How does RTR Update work?
Members can build their shipment of 4 pieces and enjoy them all month long. After your next billing date (the same day every month) you are eligible to swap your rentals for new styles. Fall in love with one of your at-home styles? You can always keep renting it as part of next month's shipment or you can buy it at a members-only discount.
Which pieces am I allowed to rent through RTR Update?

Can I purchase an item from my Update shipment?
Yes! If there is a piece you just can't bear to return, you can purchase it at our members-only discount. All purchases made with your member's only discount are final sale.
Do I have to return all my RTR Update items at the same time?
Yes. Send back all of the items you aren't purchasing or keeping for the next month by your indicated return date in the garment bag they came in.
If you are completing a fit replacement, we ask that you send back the item you are replacing as soon as you can in the garment bag you have at home.
What if i want to keep my items for another month?
If you fall in love with an item and want to keep it, you can either purchase it at our members-only discount or hold on to it for another month, it's up to you!
Am I able to tailor any of my Update items?
We do not allow any alterations to RTR pieces. Feel free to use tape or strips to temporarily tailor your look. Please try and remember to remove them before sending them back.
Am I able to wash or dry clean my items?
No need to clean your pieces on your own! We take care of that for you. We've become dry cleaning experts and always make sure pieces stay in mint condition.
If you absolutely must have a garment cleaned during the month that you have it at home, please follow the care instructions on the tag.
How do late fees work for RTR Update?
If you don't return your pieces on time, we reserve the right to charge applicable late fees. If we still haven't received your returns 5 days after the applicable return date, we reserve the right to charge you the members-only price for that item, less the cost of the late fees incurred and the item will be yours to keep.
How long can I keep the Update items?
You can keep your items as long as you'd like. You're eligible to swap items once per month in the cost of your membership but you may keep items longer if you wish. Just remember, swaps don't rollover to the next month. If you have any issues once you receive your order, contact our Membership Concierge right away.
How do I cancel my RTR Update membership?
Your RTR Update membership automatically renews. You will be billed each month when it's time to select your next shipment, 2 days before prior to the return of your current shipment. You can cancel anytime prior to the next billing cycle by contacting Member Concierge.

Can I keep the blue garment bag I received with my order?
In an effort to be more sustainable and eco-friendly, we designed our garment bags to be recyclable. They are yours to use until you are ready to return pieces at home for new styles. When we receive your return, we clean and repair the garment bags so they can power another member's experience. If the case is never returned, you’ll be charged $50. The hangers are yours to keep, and we handle the dry cleaning. If you do choose to get rid of your hangers and plastic packaging, please include in your return. We recycle it at RTR!
What if something in my shipment doesn’t fit?
We understand that sometimes pieces just don’t fit (or just aren’t flattering). To ensure that you get the most use out of your membership, we give you 48 hours from when your order is delivered to swap out any of your pieces for something different. We charge a flat rate of $12.95 for a fit replacement (to cover the cost of shipping).

If you complete a fit replacement, please send back the items you are replacing ASAP to avoid any possible late fees. Your replacement item(s) will be due back whenever you decide to swap for new styles.
Can I return and select RTR Update items at a Rent the Runway store?
Members may NOT select their first shipment in a RTR retail store - for the first shipment, you must select all pieces online.
At this time, we do not allow any in-store exchanges.
We do permit members to return their items to their nearest store at the end of their rental period as an alternative to shipping their returns back via UPS.
I lost my return garment bag for my shipment. How do I return my items?
Send your order via UPS to the address below. Please email us with your new return tracking information. You will be responsible for paying for the shipment. Your next package will include a new return envelope.

If you lose or fail to return the blue carrying case, you will be charged $50.
How do I send back my returns?
Once you've indicated what you are returning, pack up those pieces in the eco-friendly garment bag. Make sure to package each accessory in the protective bag or jewelry box you received with your order. Clothes can be returned without the plastic coverings or hangers. However, we do recycle them, so send them back to cut down on waste.
Once you've packed up, swap the UPS return label and take it to your nearest UPS drop box, UPS store or any of our retail locations in New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago or San Francisco. Send your returns back on or before your return date.
When will my shipment arrive?
When you select your pieces you can filter by availability to determine when your items are expected arrive. The delivery dates range from 2-5 days from when you select you shipment.
How will I be billed each month for Update?
Members are charged a membership price on a monthly basis. Memberships are automatically renewed and you will be billed on the same day every month at the rate then in effect to your payment method on file. Your membership will not expire unless you contact the Member Concierge via email or phone at 1-800-509-0842 and choose to cancel.
How do I select my next shipment?
On your monthly bill date, you become eligible to swap your items. Simply decide which items you'll be returning, keeping for another month, or purchasing at our members-only discount. Then you can select new styles to replace the ones you have opted to return or purchase.
Once you select your next shipment, don't forget to drop your returns at UPS within 48 hours to avoid any possible late fees.
Swaps do not roll over, but you can use your swap at any point before your next bill date.
What is the members-only discount?
You have the opportunity to keep and purchase any items that you can’t part with at a discounted price. The discount price of the item varies from 10% to 80% off of the retail value depending on the age of the garment, designer, and amount of wear on the item.
What condition are the Update items in?
We take great care to clean and inspect all of our pieces so they arrive in like-new condition. We do all dry cleaning and repairs in our state of the art facility to ensure the highest quality.
What happens if I lose or damage an item?
Your membership fee includes insurance for minor mishaps and general wear and tear. Significant damage, lost items and theft are not covered. In those cases, you will be charged the price to purchase the item. In the event that the style is not available to purchase, the charge will be for the full retail price, plus applicable tax.
